Nicholas Hrynyk, piano
Nicholas Hrynyk has been featured on international stages including Carnegie Hall, Chautauqua Music Festival, Moulin d’Ande Cultural Center in France, and the Skaneateles Music Festival. His recent awards include first place in the 2016 MTNA New York Young Artist Piano Competition and third place in the 2016 East Coast International Competition. He has appeared with the Auburn Chamber Orchestra playing the Schumann and Grieg Piano Concertos. Other recent highlights include the release of an album of violin and piano duos with violinist Nadia Maudhoo.
Nicholas received his training from the Eastman School of Music (B.M.), Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music (M.M) and his principle teachers were Natalya Antonova, Arnaldo Cohen, Deirdre O’Donohue, and John Spradling. He has performed in master classes of Menahem Pressler, Ursula Oppens, Andre Laplante, and Jerome Lowenthal. A devoted educator, Nicholas is on staff at the Kaufman Music Center Lucy Moses School, he is a member of the Piano Teachers Congress of New York, and he maintains a private studio in New York City. Nicholas previously served as an adjunct faculty member at New York University Steinhardt and as an associate instructor at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. In 2016, Nicholas completed an Advanced Certificate in Music Education at New York University Steinhardt.
Nicholas also enjoys performing pop music for projects, collaborations, and events including a performance at New York Fashion Week in February 2017.
